The Named Index is published by Edbert Ongko, an independent researcher based in Jakarta, Indonesia.
It is independently owned, funded by the service described below, and not affiliated with any vendor in the index. No vendor has any ownership, editorial input, or advance sight of an edition before it publishes.
The measurement is done by a tool we built and maintain ourselves. It calls each provider's official API, stores every answer it receives, and generates each edition from those stored answers rather than from anything typed in by hand.
The same tool produces the public index and the client reports, from the same stored answers. A client cannot be shown a different number from the one you see.
Raw answers are kept for three years, so any figure we have ever published can be traced back to the text it came from. The method is published in full, including the scoring formula and the position weights.
Because nobody else does.
The measurement is the same wherever it is run from — the questions are anchored to Australia, the engines are asked for Australian results, and the vendors are Australian.
Being outside the market has one advantage worth stating plainly: we have no relationships in it to protect. We have never worked for any vendor in this index, we do not attend the conferences, and we owe nobody a favourable reading.
We sell services that help vendors improve their visibility in AI answers. Position in the index cannot be purchased. Every current and former client is named in the methodology of the edition they appear in. The full disclosure is on the index page.
Corrections, additions to the vendor list, and questions about the method are all welcome and all get answered. If you think a figure about your company is wrong, write with the edition and the vendor name — we will re-check it against the stored answers and correct it in the following edition if we got it wrong.
